Who says Lite apps don't work?!

For the first time in the history of the App Store, the same iPhone application holds the #1 spot in both the Top 25 Paid and Free apps lists. The app is iShoot by Ethan Nicholas. It’s a fairly straightforward artillery combat game that many of you will likely have played on different platforms over the years. My two older sons spent a fair amount of time this weekend playing iShoot so I can understand why it’s in the #1 position. I actually need tp personally thank Ethan for dethroning iFart from the #1 Paid position. He’s done us all a favor.

  1. i think lite apps work very very well for games cause you can use the lite app as a teaser. games lend themselves very well to that (ie. first level is free… more will cost ya). other apps have a harder time. it is hard to find what functionality will be a compelling reason to buy the full app. most often, the lite version is just the full version with ads, but i’m not really sure many devs are making money off ads, though the ads could compel users to switch to the pay version of the app.

  3. Hi,

My name is Tom Smallwood. Myself and another student are here representing the University of Arizona. We are searching for someone who would be willing to donate a couple of tickets to us for wwdc. We are computer science students who are obsessed with iphone development. We are here in San Francisco and love the scenery but, would much rather be inside developing.

If you have any extra tickets please email me. I will be indebted to you for the rest of my life!

    Thank You,
    Tom Smallwood

  4. I might have to say it looks like these apps are going to fade away in the next years.
    My opinion.
